The Bangladesh Cricket Board have rejected the opportunity to play their first ever day-night Test match after New Zealand proposed the Tigers to play a Test under floodlights when the latter visit Hamilton in February next year.

The three-match Test series – that spells the end of the Kiwi summer – was supposed to have a pink-ball Test but the BCB have rejected New Zealand Cricket’s proposal, citing their lack of practice in the domestic circuit as a reason.

"They haven't played a day-night test, nor have they had a lot of preparation in their own first-class cricket," Anthony Crummy, chief operating officer of NZC, said.

"We respect that decision and I'm sure day-night cricket will continue."

This is the not the first time that the BCB have rejected New Zealand Cricket’s proposal of playing day-night Tests as back in 2016-2017, when Bangladesh toured New Zealand, the Tigers were once again asked to play a Test under floodlights.

However, they rejected that request citing a very similar reason for it.

Bangladesh’s tour of New Zealand in 2019 will consist of three ODIs and three Tests, which will be the first time they play a three-match Test series against the Kiwis and only the fourth time in their history where they do it.
