The verbal altercation between Quinton De Kock and David Warner caused quite the stir in the cricket world. Warner was caught on video while trying to have a go at De Kock, who apparently got to the Australian’s nerve with his words.

According to Steve Smith, De Kock apparently said something personal to the Australian, which caused him to react the way he did. The Australian captain believes that getting personal isn’t something that should be done since that is crossing the line.

"Those things are not on from both sides," Smith said.

"Getting personal on the field is not on and that's crossing the line, in my opinion.”

This comes as a bit hypocritical from Steve Smith given that Australians have been accused in the past of taking their sledging to a personal level. Smith admitted that while they were “chirpy” on the field, he doesn’t believe that anyone went personal against the South African wicketkeeper, but that he went personal against Warner.

"We were certainly very chirpy out on the field as well. As far as I'm aware, we didn't get personal towards Quinton.

"Look, I think what he said got a little bit personal towards David and, as we saw, it certainly provoked an emotional response."
