While Sri Lankan coach Chandika Hathurusingha might no longer be the coach of Bangladesh, he doesn’t shy away from giving advice when necessary. Indeed, when a former player in the mould of Subashis Roy came up to him and asked him for tips, he didn’t send him empty-handed.

Despite bursting into the scene with some good performances in the domestic circuit, he failed to convert it into the international scene. With only 9 wickets in 4 Tests and a wicket in a single ODI, his confidence might have dipped to such a level where he hasn’t been able to play well even in the domestic circuit of late.

When he asked the former Tigers’ coach for advice, he apparently told him that he needs to work on his strength and run-up to become a better bowler.

‘He [Hathurusingha] told me that seam position is very good and asked me to stay fit,’ said Subhahis.

‘He also told me to work on my strength and run-up with [bowling coach] Champaka [Ramanayake] while also asking me to work hard. He inspired me and wished me well for the future.’
