Former assistant coach of the Bangladesh team, Mohammad
Salauddin, has criticized the team’s performance in the Dhaka Test. Losing against the visitors by a mammoth 215 runs, he also
stated that the decision to play on a spin-friendly track wasn’t a good choice
due to the fact that Sri Lanka had three good spinners with them
Indeed, it was as though the visitors got home advantage
away from home itself, which was something that baffled Salauddin.
‘Looking at the opponents, I think it was wrong [to go with
a spin-friendly track]. When we played against Australia and England, they only
had one good spinner. That’s perhaps why it was easier for Bangladesh [to play
with a spin-friendly pitch].’
Apart from showing his amusement on the pitch, he also
blamed the batsmen for not being able to cope up with the Sri Lankan spinners.
‘I think they [Bangladeshi batsmen] batted very poorly. They didn’t apply themselves against the spinners like they should have.'
