Shakib al-Hasan is someone that does not mince his words. Always one to speak his mind, the best all-rounder in the world highlighted the disparity of pay between the Bangladesh cricketers and the rest of the world at Merylebone Cricket Club’s annual conference.

Despite the fact that the Bangladesh Cricket Board is the fourth richest cricket board in the world, the salary of the Tigers is negligible when compared to the rest. Indeed, even the players of Ireland and Zimbabwe earn more than their Bangladeshi counterparts.

The contrast between the wages causes a bit of a rift in the hearts of player. After all, it is not only about the money exclusively—it is the prestige that comes with it.

The image below, courtesy Cricinfo, depicts the wages of the players around the world. It does reveal the stark contrast of pay between the Bangladeshi players and the rest—something which Shakib calls for to be dissolved.

These are some of the major causes for match and spot fixing to take a gargantuan place in the world of cricket. The income life of a cricket isn’t as much and earning as much as possible is the key for any player.

However, if this is how the BCB pay their players, it is going to see a rise in fixing scandals, something that could put a dent in their name.
