Australian off-spinner, Nathan Lyon, is hopeful that his
team will comeback after England’s resurgence in the Ashes. After bundling out
the Aussies for 327 runs, the Three Lions have taken charge with a century from
Alaistair Cook.
It is as though the giant has awoken from the slumber as
England are batting at 192/2 after day 2. When asked whether or not Australia
are taking this game too lightly since the series has already been decided,
Lyon strongly denied it.
"Definitely not," Lyon said.
"There's never a dead rubber if you ask me. You're
playing Test match cricket and you're playing for your country so you want to
play well."
There have been many instances when the English team had an
upper hand over the Kangaroos, but the latter then turned the tides of the game
in their favour. And Lyon hopes that Aussies manage to do that once again.
"This Test match is a roller-coaster, it's an arm
wrestle," he said.
"We have to come back fresh in the morning and ... when
we get our chance (to bat) again in the second dig, we make sure that we go big
and really set the game up."
Day 3 begins tomorrow as Australia look to inflict further
embarrassment on their rivals. While their objective is to clean sweep the
visitors with a 5-0 win, England’s
target is to salvage some pride.
And they are on their way to it.
