Their campaign begins with a one-off Test against Bangladesh on October 9. Afghanistan will then take part in an ODI tri-series involving Zimbabwe before facing the hosts in a three-match T20I series and a two-Test series.
Rahmat Shah will continue as captain of Afghanistan's Test and ODI teams, while Ibrahim Zadran has been handed the T20I captaincy for the Zimbabwe series.
One of the notable additions to the T20I squad is uncapped all-rounder Abdullah Tarakhil. Mohammad Akram, who made his T20I debut during the 2026 Asian Games, has also been recalled for the series against Zimbabwe.
Middle-order batters Ijaz Ahmadzai and Shahidullah Kamal have returned to the T20I setup as well.
Veteran all-rounder Mohammad Nabi is missing from the T20I squad, while Darwish Rasooli has been left out of both the T20I and ODI groups.
Rashid Khan and Ibrahim Zadran will not feature in the Test squads, with the Afghanistan Cricket Board confirming that both players have been advised to avoid the longer format for the time being.
Ismat Alam returns to the Test squad after missing Afghanistan's one-off Test against India in June. Fast bowler Yamin Ahmadzai has also earned a recall following an impressive domestic first-class campaign.
Shahidullah was Afghanistan's leading run-scorer in the domestic first-class season, amassing 538 runs at an average of 76.85. Yamin, meanwhile, claimed 42 wickets at an average of 12.73 to top the bowling charts.
