According to Cricbuzz, ACB confirmed on Monday that India will face Afghanistan on September 13, 15 and 17 at New Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium, with the dates already agreed with the BCCI.
The development is a major setback for the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), which had scheduled six white-ball matches against India from September 1 to 13.
The Afghanistan series overlaps with Bangladesh’s proposed window, effectively leaving little room for India to travel to Bangladesh as originally planned.
With less than three weeks remaining before the BCB’s proposed start date, the Bangladesh-India series now appears all but off, unless the two governments intervene with a last-minute solution.
The ACB said the dates and venues have been finalised with the BCCI, while media-rights arrangements are already progressing. An official public announcement is still pending.
For Bangladesh, the latest development comes after weeks of uncertainty over India’s September tour.
The BCB had remained hopeful of hosting India for three ODIs and three T20Is, but the confirmation of Afghanistan’s series has now cast serious doubt over whether the long-awaited tour can take place.
