Bangladesh have secured direct qualification for the 2027 ODI World Cup after Afghanistan defeated Ireland by three wickets in the third ODI, confirming the final direct qualification spots.

The eight teams set to qualify directly are Australia, India, New Zealand, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, England, Afghanistan and Bangladesh, based on the ODI rankings qualification process.

Bangladesh’s position could still be affected by their proposed three-match ODI series against India later this month.

If the series goes ahead and Bangladesh lose 3-0, they may have to wait for the final qualification calculations. However, if the series is not played, Bangladesh will qualify directly without any further complications.

West Indies, currently ranked 10th, can no longer accumulate enough points before the September 30 qualification deadline to break into the top eight. They will therefore have to go through the 2027 World Cup Qualifier in February.

Hosts South Africa and Zimbabwe will qualify automatically for the tournament, which will be the 14th edition of the ODI World Cup and is scheduled to run from October 4 to November 21, 2027.
