Drawing from his own experience, Hannan has urged the batters to adapt early and challenged the bowling unit to lead Bangladesh's fight.
Speaking to reporters, Hannan said, "If Tanzid Tamim and Amite Hasan can adapt to the conditions in Australia, they have the potential to become big players. Tanzid naturally plays attacking shots, and those strokes are important in Test cricket too. But knowing when to play them and making the right decisions is something he needs to focus on."
While placing his faith in the younger batters, Hannan also highlighted the importance of Mushfiqur Rahim's experience in guiding the team.
"Mushfiq is the most senior player in this team. He will definitely guide the younger players and show them the way," he said.
Hannan, however, believes Bangladesh's bowlers will carry the biggest responsibility if the visitors are to challenge Australia. He urged the attack to prepare specific plans for each Australian batter rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all approach.
Referring to Australia's aggressive left-hander Travis Head, Hannan said, "You probably can't stop Travis Head from scoring quickly. If he gets 30 or 40 runs fast, let him. But you must take his wicket before he converts it into a big score. If you don't dismiss him early, containing Australia's total becomes very difficult. That's why our pace bowlers will have to lead the attack, and that's why so much discussion revolves around how they bowl against Australia's batting line-up."
The former opener also expects Bangladesh's spinners to have an important role, particularly in the opening Test in Darwin.
Drawing from his coaching experience in Australia, Hannan said, "When we toured for the Top End competition, our spinners found some turn there. I expect there will be some assistance for spin in Test cricket as well. It may not be a heavily turning wicket, but Australia also have Nathan Lyon, so we have to keep that in mind. Our spinners can play a very important role in this series."
