Pakistan have suffered a major blow ahead of the opening Test against Bangladesh, with star batter Babar Azam ruled out of the match starting tomorrow at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confirmed that Babar will miss the first Test due to a left knee injury.

In an official statement, the board said, “Pakistan batter Babar Azam will not be available for the first Test match against Bangladesh due to an injury in his left knee.”

The PCB also mentioned that the team’s medical panel is currently monitoring his condition and that more updates will be provided later.

The two-match ICC World Test Championship series begins with the first Test in Dhaka from 8 to 12 May, while the second Test will take place at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium from 16 to 20 May.
