Bangladesh head into the T20I series against New Zealand high on confidence after clinching the ODI series 2-1.

As the focus shifts to the shorter format, experienced leg-spinner Ish Sodhi has joined the Kiwi camp and spoken highly of Bangladesh’s rising star Rishad Hossain.

Speaking at a press conference in Chattogram on Friday, Sodhi described Rishad as a “talented and versatile” leg-spinner.

“I’ve spoken to Rishad a few times. He’s a very talented bowler and is improving day by day. He’s had a great start in both international and franchise cricket,” he said.

Highlighting his bowling traits, Sodhi added, “Usually Asian leg-spinners are low and skiddy, but Rishad gets bounce like traditional leg-spinners. It’s something we haven’t seen much in this region. His future is very bright.”

Reflecting on his first tour of Bangladesh in 2013, Sodhi noted how much the team has evolved.

“Back then it was a very different side. The current team is much stronger and more challenging in their own conditions. Even the newer players are doing well at the international level. We’re excited for this challenge,” he said.

The three-match T20I series begins on Monday at the Bir Shrestha Shaheed Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Cricket Stadium, with the second match scheduled at the same venue on April 29 and the final game set for May 2 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.
