Team India have lost by 227 runs in their first Test against England in Chennai. With this win, England have kept their hope alive to make it to the final of World Test Championship (WTC). However, the ICC Cricket Committee, led by former India player Anil Kumble, has decided to bring a change in the points table of the WTC points during the COVID-19-forced lockdown last year. And, India captain Virat Kohli took a dig at the change.

"If rules suddenly change during lockdown, nothing is in your control," Virat Kohli said on Tuesday after the loss.

"Nothing changes for us. If suddenly the rules can change when you are in lockdown, nothing is in your control at all. The only thing that you are in control is what you do on the field," Kohli said when he was asked about India's points in WTC so far.

"We are not bothered about the table or things that are going on in the outside. For some things, there's no logic. You can have debate for hours and as much as you want but only thing you can control as a side to an extent is playing good cricket, and that's our only focus regardless of who's who's on top of the table," he again shared.

Currently, India have the second-highest points (430) after England (442) but in terms of PCT, they (68.3) are placed at fourth after England (70.2), New Zealand (70) and Australia (69.2). Notably, New Zealand have already qualified for the final. With one team has already sealed their place, it has now become tough for both India and England to grab the final seat as well.

Meanwhile, Virat Kohli said that no team could play Test cricket looking at the points table.

"Before this Test match, we were not even thinking of England's chances and now suddenly we are talking about they are on top of the table. These things keep on changing, all the time. You play dont play for these things. Our focus is to do hard work and go through the hard grind and we are prepared to do that," the skipper further added.

Meanwhile, England have improved their chances after the win and they could reach the final if the results become - 3-1, 3-0 or 4-0 win against India. For India, they need to win by a minimum margin of 2-1, if not then 3-1, to make it to the final against New Zealand at the Lord's from June 18.
