Bangladesh pace sensation Nahid Rana has been placed in the highest base-price category for the auction of the fifth season of South Africa's SA20.

The fast bowler has a base price of 1.5 million South African Rand (approximately Tk 11.1 million) and is the only Bangladeshi player included in the final auction list.

There were 789 applications during the registration period, with the final Player Auction shortlisted to 156 cricketers, made up of 95 South Africans and 61 overseas hopefuls.

Paarl Royals will not take part in the auction as they already have a full 19-player squad.

The other four franchises—Joburg Super Kings, MI Cape Town, Pretoria Capitals and Sunrisers Eastern Cape—will participate in the auction. Together, they can sign up to 19 players and have a combined purse of US$2.11 million.

Joburg Super Kings and MI Cape Town can each sign up to six players, while Pretoria Capitals can add five and Sunrisers Eastern Cape two.

Former South Africa captain Faf du Plessis is among the biggest names in the auction. He previously led Joburg Super Kings and has been in good batting form recently. He was the tournament's leading run-scorer in the ETPL, scoring 135 runs at a strike rate of 151.7.

Other notable South African players in the auction include Rassie van der Dussen, Wiaan Mulder and Nandre Burger.

The overseas contingent features several prominent names, including Kieron Pollard, Trent Boult, Shimron Hetmyer, Shamar Joseph, Mohammad Nabi, Mohammad Ghazanfar, Jordan Cox, Aneurin Donald, Rehan Ahmed, Richard Gleeson and Nahid Rana.

Bangladesh leg-spinner Rishad Hossain has already secured a place in the SA20 ahead of the auction, having been signed by Sunrisers Eastern Cape.

The SA20 auction will take place on October 7.
