Mehidy Hasan Miraz made an impressive Caribbean Premier League debut, taking three wickets as Guyana Amazon Warriors defeated St Lucia Kings by four wickets in Providence on Wednesday.

Playing his first CPL match, Miraz immediately made an impact with the ball. He finished with 3 for 13 from four overs, helping Guyana bowl St Lucia out for 119 in 18.5 overs.

Miraz claimed his first CPL wicket in his opening over, removing John Campbell for 12. He then dismissed Charith Asalanka for 8 and Kemol Savory for 2 as St Lucia slipped to 72 for six.

Kamil Pooran top-scored for St Lucia with 43, while Obus Pienaar added 35. However, Imran Tahir’s five-wicket haul and Miraz’s three wickets kept the Kings under pressure throughout the innings.

Guyana’s chase got off to a steady start through Glenn Phillips, who scored 37, and Shai Hope, who made 21.

The hosts lost wickets regularly but remained in control of the chase.

Miraz, batting at No. 5, was dismissed for just one, falling to Roston Chase with Guyana on 69 for four.

Quentin Sampson then produced a stunning finish, smashing an unbeaten 37 off just 11 balls, including five sixes, to take Guyana to 122 for six in 18.3 overs and seal victory with nine balls remaining.
