The once-disgraced former Pakistan captain Salman Butt has heaped praise on the current scenario of the Bangladesh cricket team after landing in Dhaka. The left-handed batsman is set to play in the Dhaka Premier League, representing Mohammedan Sporting Club.

And he claimed that being in Bangladesh after such a long time was a good feeling, while also acknowledging the improvement of the Tigers in the last few years. Butt credited the domestic infrastructure for the rise of the Tigers.

"It's good to be here after a long time," Butt told ESPNcricinfo. "Bangladesh over the years has become a high quality cricket-playing country. They have lifted their game and proven that again and again, and this all comes with a competitive domestic structure.

He then spoke about the honour of representing a club with the history of Mohammedan. Indeed, prior to Butt, the crest was carried by many Pakistani players and Butt hopes to follow them.

"Mohammedan is a club with a lot of history behind it, with a lot of Pakistani greats having played for them in past, and I hope be able to contribute well for them.”

The currently injured Shakib Al Hasan is the captain of the club and Butt believes that the all-rounder’s presence is key for the season.

Shakib [Al Hasan] will be leading the team and I believe it would make a difference in the season."

The elegant left-hander will play the whole of the Dhaka Premier League as he has been given the No-objection Certificate by the Pakistan Cricket Board after he found free of any wrongdoing in the privately organized Ajman All Stars, which has been marred in controversy due to corruption allegations.
