Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) High Performance (HP) Chairman Naimur Rahman Durjoy supported the board’s current approach to bring their cricketers back to the practice and start playing under the existing situation.

Drawing the example of England, who have been playing cricket since July amid the pandemic situation, Dujoy said they should follow the protocols that England used to continue its cricket in the field.

Although HP chairman tipped it as a challenging situation, he stated they have to run all careful until the pandemic goes away or the vaccine does not come to the global market.

“It’s, of course, challenging but the situation will not be improved unless the corona pandemic goes away. Everybody is looking for the vaccine. We have to stay under such conditions if those things do not happen,” said Naimur Rahman, who is also an executive director of the BCB.

“As the other countries especially England have started it and are continuing it, it would be better if we could run it following their protocols because how long the players will stay idle. There is a necessity for starting games. In that case, I think it’s a very good option,” Duroy told media.

He said they have to move forward through pressure and challenges because those will remain in every situation.

“There is pressure and challenge everywhere and those will have remained. But none can specifically tell anything about the situation,” he said.

“We’ve thought to play there to see the condition of Sri Lanka. There is no certainty the situation will continue before our going there. The situation can change any time. New Zealand once was declared COVI-19 free. Therefore, the case of infection of coronavirus is seen there. So, there remains a big confusion,” he added.
