Bangladesh Test captain Mominul Haque expressed his happiness to return to the cricket field after a four-month long hiatus.

Mominul said they should all focus on themselves to adjust with the changed situation so that they could be done well when they will start playing in international cricket.

“We could have returned to cricket after a long hiatus for which I feel well. I feel everything ‘new and fresh’ for being the first day. Adjustment with the situation is important for us. Time will be needed to make an adjustment with the situation. It may be two-three or four-five days,” said Mominul Haque, who came to Mirpur after Mushfiqur Rahim and Mahmudullah Riyad to have batting, running and gym work to join the maiden practice session.

“Hopefully we could be adjusted with it quickly. We were all out of cricket for so long. We missed all very much during the period of corona-enforced break. It’s cheering news for all of us that finally we could have started,” Haque told in a video, provided by Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).

The Test captain said they have Test matches ahead. Before that they will get enough time to take their preparation which will be helpful for them in international cricket.

“It seems to me that when we go into international cricket, we will get enough time to take our preparation. Practice along with practice matches will be good for us. Taking good preparation, we could have played Test matches properly,” he said.

“We have got a chance to think much about our cricket during the lockdown period as we had no work to do. But many of us have done more or less work on fitness. Someone has worked psychologically. We have worked with coaches on technical and tactical aspects how we can improve skill- wise our games,” he also said.

“Many of us work personally on how we develop our own game. It seems to me that we could do well with what we have worked on. We can capitalize it. If we could have stayed in games, we could have got less chances to do it. We have worked from outside of the field how we can improve our games,” he added.

Citing the names of England, West Indies and Pakistan, who all returned to international cricket amid the fears of the COVID-19, Mominul said they are gradually attempting to return to cricket.

“As we were out of cricket for four-five months, we all miss cricket a lot. Many cricket teams across the world meanwhile returned to their mainstream cricket for example, England, West Indies and Pakistan. When we saw them playing, we felt bad and missed cricket a lot,” the left-handed batsman said.

“We’re gradually trying to get back in cricket also. We’ve Test matches ahead for which we’ll take good preparation. Hopefully we could have made a good start, Inshaallah,” he added.
