Former India batsman and former selector Dilip Vengsarkar opined that Virat Kohli will have a great tour in England. The Indian captain endured a torrid time the last time he toured the country, scoring only 134 runs from five Tests and found it really difficult to handle James Anderson.
It is for this reason that Kohli opted to skip the Afghanistan Test to play county cricket with Surrey in a bid to prepare himself for the England tour. Vengsarkar, meanwhile, backed Kohli’s decision and affirmed that he would do well this time because he is the best batsman in the world.
"It is a good decision because he will get time to acclimatise to the conditions in England. I am sure he is very keen to do well," "He (Kohli) is the best batsman in the world at the moment. In the last four years he has established himself as the No. 1 batsman, so we expect a lot of things from him and the England tour will be a big test for him. I am sure he will do well."
When asked about India’s chances in England, he stated that the fast bowling contingent of India means that they could beat the hosts.
"I expect a lot because we have good fast bowlers with many options to explore. We should be able to beat England."
India’s tour of England will begin on the 3 of July with both the teams locking horns in a T20I encounter. The tour will consist of five Tests and three T20Is and ODIs each and will conclude on the second week of September.
