Chittagong Kings signed Bangladesh star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan for the upcoming Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) as they announced it on social media Thursday.
Last month, before the second Test of the Tigers' ongoing India tour, Shakib announced in Kanpur his retirement plans from all three formats. He expressed his interest in playing at least the first Test against South Africa in Mirpur if not the entire two-match series.
However, Shakib's participation in the South Africa series depends on his selection in the squad and the security concerns he brought up when he announced his retirement plans in India.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh all-rounder on Wednesday shared a Facebook status and urged his countrymen to stay by his side during his final Test.
Kings, who have returned to the BPL after 2013, already signed Shoriful Islam today and English all-rounder Moeen Ali recently.
Additionally, the team have already signed foreign players such as Haider Ali, Usman Khan, and Angelo Mathews. There are ongoing discussions with Pakistan’s rising star Wasim Junior as well.
The coaching staff also promises surprises, as the franchise has appointed former Bangladesh spinner and the hero of Bangladesh’s first Test victory, Enamul Haque Junior, as the assistant coach. Meanwhile, Shaun Tait has been named the head coach.
