DJ Bravo announces retirement from all cricket, joins KKR as mentor

West Indies all-rounder Dwayne Bravo has announced his retirement from all cricket after his farewell Caribbean Premier League (CPL) season was cut short due to an injury.
Bravo retired from international cricket in 2021 and decided to end his time in the Indian Premier League last year. In the past year, Bravo shifted his focus to coaching roles, featuring for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Afghanistan.
"Today is the day I say goodbye to the game that has given me everything. From the age of five, I knew this was what I wanted to do--this was the sport I was destined to play. I had no interest in anything else, and I dedicated my entire life to you. In return, you gave me the life I dreamed of for myself and my family. For that, I can't thank you enough," Bravo said in a post on Instagram.]
Bravo planned to retire from the CPL following the current campaign. His achievements mark him as the tournament's most decorated player, having won five titles, including three with the Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR).
The 41-year-old is the leading wicket-taker in the T20 format.
Bravo decided concluded his tenure with Chennai Super Kings, where he secured four IPL titles in various roles. He will be joining the defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) as a mentor starting the 2025 season.
According to ESPNcricinfo, Bravo held a talk with KKR CEO Venky Mysore during the CPL before agreeing to a long-term contract. Apart from KKR, he will be in charge of all franchises under the Knight Riders label in T20 leagues: Trinbago Knight Riders (CPL), Los Angeles Knight Riders (MLC) and Abu Dhabi Knight Riders (ILT20).
