Bangladesh Test team on Sunday departed for the upcoming two-match Test series against India, starting on September 19 in Chennai.

Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto was optimistic about the India challenge as the Tigers are coming off a recent historic series sweep 2-0 over Pakistan.

India sits at the top of the ICC Test rankings and also holds the top spot of the ongoing World Test Championship points table while Bangladesh moved to fourth in this list after the Pakistan series.

Shanto vowed to play good cricket against India who remained undefeated in the last 13 encounters. Shanto believes if they can perform well in five days they can achieve good results but admitted it will be challenging for the tourists.

"This will be a very tough series for us. After a good series, the team and the people of the country build up extra confidence. Every series is an opportunity. We will play to win both matches. The process which important to win we will focus in those things. If we do our work properly, we can achieve good results though it will be challenging," said Shanto.

"What I said earlier is that the series will be challenging. If you compare the ranking, they are much ahead of us. We have been playing well lately. Our goal will be how we can play well for five days. The result arises on the last day of the last session. If we can play good cricket for five days, any team has the opportunity to win," he added.

Bangladesh made only one change in the existing Test squad as Jaker Ali Anik replaced pacer Shoriful Islam. Ace-allrounder Shakib al Hasan will join the team directly in India as he is busy with county commitments.

The first Test begins on September 19. The second match is on September 27 at Kanpur.
