While parts of Bangladesh grapple with heavy unexpected floods, Najmul Hossain Shanto and his team were on tour in Pakistan. Despite being away, the cricketers were deeply moved by the difficulty of those affected back home.

Many players, including Mushfiqur Rahim, made personal efforts to support the flood victims. Mushfiqur donated his Man of the Match prize money from the first Test, while Litton Das contributed his entire prize money from the Energetic Player of the Match award.

Though individual players extended their support previously, this time the whole Bangladesh cricket team has collectively decided to help. After their historic series win against Pakistan, the players and team management received a bonus of BDT 3 crore two lac, and a portion of that money will be donated to the flood victims.

“We all know the situation in the country is very dire. Many people are still struggling to recover from the floods. We have decided to contribute part of our bonus to help those in need. It’s our way of standing by the people of Bangladesh during this tough time.” Shanto said in the program organized by BCB.

Shanto also called on affluent individuals to come forward and help those affected. “I hope those who are able will also extend their support to the people in need,”

The bonus was handed over to the players in a ceremony at a five-star hotel in the capital by BCB President Faruque Ahmed and Sports Advisor Asif Mahmud, just ahead of the team's departure for India.

Shanto expressed gratitude to the BCB President for fulfilling his promise and noted that receiving the bonus ahead of their important tour to India would serve as motivation for the players.

“I want to thank our board president, Faruque Bhai, for keeping his commitment. This bonus is part of our agreement, and having such an event before a major series like this will definitely inspire each of us,” Shanto remarked.
