Bangladesh pacer Shoriful Islam has been called into Kandy Falcons as a replacement of Pakistan's Mohammad Ali for the ongoing Lanka Premier League (LPL).
Shoriful was left out during the LPL players' draft, but Pakistan's pacer immediate injury has paved his way into Lanka's franchise tournament. He is set to join the team on Wednesday.
When asked about his expectations for LPL, he said, 'I am going to LPL, I wish to give my best. I have not played for a long time. Looking forward to make a comeback with LPL,'
Shoriful missed the entire T20 World Cup due to a finger injury, the bowler expressed his disappointment for not getting a chance to play a single match in the whole tournament.
"Unfortunately, I couldn't play. I was hoping to play at least one match. It's a bit disappointing. I was ready for all the matches. However, because of the team combination, even though everyone was playing very well. So it did not happen," he said.
Shoriful has played for Colombo Strikers in the previous edition of LPL. The young pacer will be joined by Wanindu Hasaranga, Mohammad Hasnain, Andre Fletcher, Dasun Shanaka in Kandy.
Kandy has played two matches in the ongoing tournament and secured one win and a defeat.
Apart from Shoriful, three more Bangladeshis are playing in this year's LPL - Taskin Ahmed, Mustafizur Rahman and Towhid Hridoy. Taskin will feature for Colombo Strikers, while Mustafiz and Towhid will play for Dambulla sixers in this year's LPL.
The fifth edition of the Lanka Premier League began on July 1 and will be played in three cities Kandy, Dambulla, and Colombo.
