In the Dhaka Premier League (DPL), Tamim Iqbal’s Prime Bank Cricket Club won their first match as they defeated Shinepukur Cricket Club by 71 runs.
Shinepukur managed to score only 125 runs while chasing Prime Bank's target of 197 runs.
Losing the toss and opting to bat first, Prime Bank lost all their wickets and scored 196 runs. Tamim, the highest run-scorer in the previous Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) season, couldn't perform well today, scoring only 17 runs off 26 balls.
Another opener for Prime Bank, Shahadat Hossain Dipu, played an innings of 28 runs off 37 balls. Both of them were sent back to the pavilion by Hasan Murad.
Despite a good start by Zakir Hasan and Nayeem Islam, they couldn't play a big innings. Both of them scored 24 and 25 runs respectively.
The middle-order batsmen of Prime Bank couldn't contribute much. Parvez Hossain Emon, Mohammad Mithun, and Mahadi Hasan returned quickly.
Prime Bank managed to score 196 runs mainly due to the late contributions of Rubel Hossain and Nazmul Apu.
Apu played an exceptional innings of 40 runs off 53 balls, becoming the highest run-scorer for Prime Bank. Rubel scored 23 runs off 44 balls.
Mukidul Islam Mugdho took four wickets for Shinepukur, conceding 42 runs in his 10 overs. Arafat Sunny also grabbed three wickets.
During the chase, Shinepukur couldn't start their innings well as they lost wickets at regular intervals.
For the Under-19 team, Jishan Alam scored 27 runs off 24 balls with three boundaries and a six.
Additionally, Marshall Ayub remained unbeaten with 21 runs off 58 balls, and Arafat Sunny contributed 28 runs off 56 balls. However, no one else could make a significant contribution.
Hasan Mahmud took four wickets, conceding only 15 runs in his 10 overs. Sunzamul Islam also took three wickets.
