Abahani Limited clinched a big victory in their opening match of the Dhaka Premier League as Mosaddek Hossain's team defeated Partex Sporting Club by a margin of 171 runs.
Losing the toss and batting first, Abahani scored 268 runs, losing 9 wickets. Sabbir Hossain top-scored for the team with 71 runs.
Mohammad Naim Sheikh and Sabbir started brilliantly with the bat. While Naim played cautiously, Sabbir showcased aggressive batting right from the beginning.
They put up a partnership of 107 runs for the first wicket. Sabbir scored 71 runs off 59 balls, including 10 boundaries and 2 sixes, before being dismissed by Asaduzzaman Payel, providing Partex their first breakthrough.
Naim followed Sabbir back to the pavilion for 37 runs off 58 balls. Mahmudul Hasan Joy contributed with 34 runs, including 2 boundaries and 1 six. Afif Hossain returned for a golden duck.
In the end, Mosaddek Hossain scored 42 off 48 balls, and Saifuddin managed 31 runs off 35 balls, contributing to Abahani's total of 268 runs.
Asaduzzaman Payel and Mohor Sheikh took three wickets each for Partex.
Partex couldn't start the chase properly, losing 5 wickets within 45 runs. Munim Shahriar and Mizanur Rahman were dismissed cheaply.
Rajibul Islam managed to score 20 runs off 33 balls, but it wasn't enough. Partex ended up scoring only 97 runs.
Tanvir Islam took 4 wickets for Abahani, conceding 26 runs in 10 overs.
