Sylhet to wear green jersey in tribute to 1952 Martyrs

Sylhet Strikers will be donning a special green jersey in their last two matches in Sylhet to pay tribute to the history and tradition of the region and the martyrs who sacrificed their lives during the Language movement in 1952.
The jersey will feature the famous Ali Amjad's clock, which has stood at the entrance to the northern part of the town across Keane Bridge since 1874. Additionally, it will incorporate Sylhet’s local language and showcase various establishments of the city.
In honor of the language martyrs, the cricketers' names and jersey numbers will be written in Bengali characters on the back of the Sylhet jersey.
February is celebrated by Bengalis to commemorate and pay homage to the language martyrs who sacrificed their lives on 21st February 1952 for the right to mother language, Bangla.
English cricketer Benny Howell was impressed by this initiative of the franchise and expressed his excitement upon seeing the jersey. This marks the first time in BPL history that a team will be undertaking such a meaningful gesture.
Sylhet is still looking for their maiden win in the tournament and are struggling at the bottom of the points table suffering five straight defeats in the tournament.
Sylhet will take on Durdanto Dhaka on Saturday at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium.
