In a thrilling encounter at Cox's Bazar on Thursday, Habibur Rahman Sohan stole the show smashing the fastest hundred in List A cricket against Central Zone in the ongoing Bangladesh Cricket League (BCL) one-day tournament.
Sohan's 49-ball century ensured an eight-wicket win against Central Zone surpassing the previous record held by former Bangladesh captain Mashrafe Mortaza, who had scored a 50-ball ton in 2016.
Chasing a target of 202, Sohan came out all guns blazing, smashing seven fours and eight sixes en route to his record-breaking century.
His power hitting left the opposition bowlers shell-shocked as he reached his hundred in just 49 deliveries.
This was Sohan's second List A ton in 18 matches and his impressive strike rate of over 130 in 50-over cricket speaks volumes about his talent.
The 24-year-old had earlier played for Khulna Tigers in the 2023 Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) and had made headlines with his explosive 9-ball-30 against Fortune Barishal.
Although he fell short of the all-time List A record of Jake Fraser-McGurk of Australia, who made a hundred off just 29 balls earlier this year.
