Double centuries from Shadman Islam and Naeem Islam helped Dhaka Metro post 601 runs on Day 2 of the ongoing National Cricket League (NCL) Tier-1 match against Sylhet at Sheikh Kamal International Cricket Stadium G2, Coxs Bazar today.
Shadman played an innings of 250 runs off 437 balls and Naeem's 278-ball innings of 221 runs recorded career-best inning for the batters.
Shadman and Naeem made a partnership of 434 runs for the third wicket which is also the record highest runs scored by a pair for the third wicket in first-class cricket.
Earlier in October 2012, Tamim Iqbal and Mominul Haque made a partnership of 276 runs for the Chittagong Division against Dhaka Metro.
Dhaka Metro declared their innings after reaching the 600-run mark, following the dismissal of the duo. For Sylhet, Nabil Samad took 3 wickets, Abu Zayed Rahi and Khaled Ahmed took one wicket each.
In response, Sylhet posted 101 runs without losing any wicket at the stumps Taufiq Khan was unbeaten on 52 and Zakir Hasan had 42 runs at the close of the day.
Shadman was unbeaten on 157 as his side Dhaka Metro piled up 359-2 on day one of their NCL and Naeem was unbeaten on 104.
Shadman's opening partner Naim Sheikh was dismissed on 35 after sharing 59-run for the opening stand.
