Shakib Al Hasan will play for Walton Central Zone in the ODI edition of Bangladesh Cricket League (BCL) as he has already returned to the country from the United States to take part in the upcoming tournament.
The world's best all-rounder set foot in Bangladesh on Thursday (January 8) morning.
Shakib went to the United States to stay with his family after the Pakistan series. He also took leave from the ongoing New Zealand series. But this time he will be ready for the upcoming series by taking part in this 50 over tournament.
When Shakib will join the team has not been finalized yet. Walton team manager Milton Ahmed said, "Shakib arrived in the country this morning [Thursday]. Talked to us. Now he is sleeping. He will tell you soon when he will join the team”
Shakib has never played for two-time BCL champion Walton Central Zone. Mahmudullah Riyad has been seen regularly in the team's jersey before in this zone-based competition.
The one-day edition of the BCL will start in Sylhet from January 9. Tamim Iqbal, Mahmudullah Riyad, Mustafizur Rahman will also take part in the forthcoming competition. The matches will be played on January 9, 11 and 13 at two grounds in Sylhet.
