Dhaka Division has become the champion of the National Cricket League (NCL), the main domestic tournament of Bangladesh after seven years.
Dhaka has defeated Khulna Division by 179 runs in the sixth round of NCL at the BKSP-3 Ground, Savar on Wednesday.
Khulna were restricted on 199 while chasing 379 by Dhaka. As a result, Taibur Rahman’s side has clinched the NCL title for the sixth time.
Taibur took 5 wickets in the second innings against Khulna. However, all-rounder Shuvagata Hom Chowdhury, who took 10 wickets in the match, was adjudged the man of the match. The off-spinner took 7 wickets in the first innings and 3 wickets in the second innings.
Rangpur also had an opportunity to become the champion of the first tier. They were at the top with 28.89 points. Due to the draw against Sylhet, Rangpur failed to win the title.
Resuming the day with 455 runs for 5 wickets, Sylhet's first innings stopped at 540 runs. At the end of the day, Rangpur managed to put on 129 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in their first innings.
After falling behind by 140 runs, Rangpur started the second innings with 129 runs and 5 wickets in hand. Sylhet and Rangpur accepted the draw shortly after Dhaka's victory was announced on the adjacent field.
