The Lanka Premier League (LPL) T20 Cricket Tournament, which was scheduled to begin in July, has been postponed until August due to the country's current pandemic situation.
Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) held a meeting and decided to delay the tournament until the end of August. They will look for a new window to host the tournament once the country is safe and favourable to conduct this event.
Earlier, SLC had announced that the second edition of the Lanka Premier League (LPL) would take place from 30 July to 22 August, prior to the ICC T20 World Cup.
The Jaffna Stallions won the title of the inaugural (LPL) which was held in November, last year. All of the matches were held at the MRICS in Hambantota, with five regional teams competing.
LPL is one of the first major sporting activities to be organized after the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, was a much-needed boost for a nation that had been without cricket for nearly a year.
