Bangladesh wicket-keeper batter Jaker Ali Anik said there is a shift in the side’s Test culture as the Tigers boast confidence following the historic Test series sweep over Pakistan.

Jaker was called into the Test squad to replace fast bowler Shoriful Islam for the upcoming two-match India Test series. The left-arm pacer is the only member of the recent historic Test-winning side over Pakistan who missed the opportunity due to a groin injury.

Uncapped Jaker expressed his joy for getting selected in the Test fold as he awaits his dream debut in the red-ball format.

“Getting the opportunity in the Test team is definitely a good feeling. Everyone dreams of playing in this format. I have been playing first-class cricket since 2017. Regardless of the version, I try to perform well in domestic cricket. That's how the process goes,” said Jaker Ali.

“As I mentioned earlier, the way we won the two matches by showing dominance, is definitely a feeling of change in our Test culture. And yes, it feels great to be selected for the Test team. Will try to give our best," he said.

The first Test is set to begin on 19 September while the second match begins on 27 September.

Jaker stated the Tigers will boost confidence from their recent win over Pakistan and continue their domination in the upcoming India series and they will stand strong against all the challenges.

“Since we did well in the last series, it will boost our confidence. I think, this year we will strive for what we have never done before as a team,” he said.

“There will be challenges from all sides. Their batting lineup is outstanding. We need to do well in the batting department. If you see the last two tests, we have done well in every sector, especially the batting. We struggle with batting. When batting goes wrong, we lose. Although, bowlers support most of the time. If batters can do well, it will benefit us,” he added.
