Sohan: Players should enter in politics after retirement

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is currently in turmoil amid the political upheaval following the government's fall. While efforts are being made to restore normalcy on the field, the situation within the board remains tense.
Notably, BCB President Nazmul Hassan Papon and other top officials have been conspicuously absent, many previously involved in the now-defunct ruling party's politics.
As the new government takes charge, cricketers Imrul Kayes and Rubel Hossain have voiced their frustration with the BCB on social media. Most recently, Nurul Hasan Sohan joined the chorus of criticism.
Speaking to the media after a practice session in Mirpur today, Bangladesh's wicketkeeper-batter Sohan stated, "Actively engaging in politics while playing for the national team is never appropriate. Politics is a significant commitment, and it's challenging to dedicate the necessary time to the national team while being involved in politics. If someone wishes to pursue politics, they should do so after retiring from the sport."
Sohan's comments are widely seen as a veiled reference to Mashrafe Bin Mortaza and Shakib Al Hasan, two of the most popular figures in Bangladesh cricket.
Although Mashrafe has not played for the national team in some time, Shakib continues to be a regular player. Both were members of the recently ousted government's parliament.
Sohan further criticized the BCB for the presence of individuals with political affiliations, arguing that this has been a major problem.
"The cricket board should be run by capable organizers. It is not a place for personal agendas. People who come here to make a substantial amount of money and then leave the country should not be part of the board," Sohan added.
