Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shano said he has no personal goals but wants Bangladesh to win a trophy ahead of T20 World Cup, starting on June 2.  

Bangladesh has always appeared as the dark horse in significant events like World Cups and Champions Trophy. Tiger's major achievement in such a tournament was when they reached the semi-final of 2017's Champions Trophy which is still their highest success in any ICC events.

Bangladesh has proved themselves as a strong contender in their home series where they have humbled cricket giants like Australia, New Zealand in recent years. However, their supremacy fades away when they take part in the major tournaments.

“This is definitely an exciting thing when supporters outside the country support. It's an extra inspiration. The way every person in our country follows cricket, inspires, definitely encourages the team. We want the same support during the World Cup. We also expect their support during our bad phase,” said Shanto in BCB's Red Green Story.

"Actually, I don't want to talk about possibilities. I want the Bangladesh team to win the cup. The players want Bangladesh to win the cup, and that is the biggest goal. However, as a captain, what is important to me is whether I have prepared properly, if I am doing the small tasks correctly, and if the process is right," he said.

Shanto noted that veteran Shakib al Hasan's experience will be valuable for the team and for the youngsters in the upcoming tournament.

“Shakib bhai will share his vast experience with all cricketers. His experiences over the past few years will be shared among the youth, they will benefit greatly, and that's exactly what he is doing,” he added.
