Bangladesh wicket-keeper batter Jaker Ali was elated to be part of the T20 World Cup squad and stated that he has high hopes to do something 'big' in the upcoming event.
Bangladesh has always appeared as the dark horse in significant events like World Cups and Champions Trophy. Tiger's major achievement in such a tournament was when they reached the semi-final of 2017's Champions Trophy which is still their highest success in any ICC events.
Bangladesh has proved themselves as a strong contender in their home series. where they have humbled cricket giants like Australia, New Zealand in recent years. However, their supremacy fades away when they take part in the major tournaments.
Jaker aims to turn the tables for the Bangladesh team in the upcoming tournament.
“It’s a huge thing to play for the country. And if it happens on the World Cup stage, it's even better. I have been watching match by match (of the World Cup team) since I got to know about the opponents and what skills should be needed against them,” Jaker said in BCB's Red Green story.
"As a team, I want us to perform well in every match, win, and do something big for our country. I always have in mind that I want to do something good for the country. Of course, I want our team to achieve something that we have never done before," he added.
