‘We cannot even think about adopting the revenue-sharing model’

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) CEO Nizam Uddin confirmed that revenue-sharing rights among the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) franchises are not possible in Bangladesh’s circumstances.
Four-time champions Comilla Victorians owner Nafisa Kamal recently demanded for an open discussion with BCB for multiple issues including revenue-sharing rights, broadcasting rights and other things like other renowned franchise tournaments.
However, BCB CEO insisted that they are not interested in sharing revenues with the franchises.
“The concept of revenue sharing has been discussed for quite some time, and it refers to various models. We want to make the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) sustainable in our country, not just from the cricket board's perspective but also for the franchises,” Nizam said.
“The sustainable BPL means not only for the cricket board but also for the franchises. The models that are being used in other tournaments have a much broader scope, covering franchise fees and financial structures extensively,” Nizam said during BPL’s title sponsor press conference.
“We are not adopting those models, they are not sustainable for us. We are working on the BPL within many constraints. For this reason, we cannot even think about adopting the revenue-sharing model used in those tournaments. We are thinking about our model to make the BPL regular. Going outside of our model would make it difficult for us to organize the BPL regularly,” he added.
Earlier, Nafisa threatened to quit BPL, the country's lone franchise-based T20 tournament, if the revenue is not shared from the coming season.
