Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan inspired Bangladesh spinner Nazmul Islam Apu to practice carom ball.

Nazmul revealed that in an interview with Cricfrenzy where he stated that he had doubts earlier over his ability to bowl the carom ball but after the suggestion, he altered his decision and started to work on it.

“After the India series and Asia Cup, we had a party. There were Shikar Dhawan and others. They told me that your bowling style is really good. Then I used to bowl carom ball. I wanted to stop doing that,” Apu told Cricfrenzy on Thursday.

“Then Shikhar Dhawan said, your carom ball is very good, you should continue that. Because it grips and the pace is also good. So, you should work on that,” Nazmul told Cricfrenzy.

After the Asia Cup, Nazmul started to work more on the Carom ball. He tried to use this variation in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) too. He wants to add more variation in his arsenal but before that he wants to settle down in the international cricket.

“I worked on that at the BPL and premier league. The way I was playing, maybe I could have continued at the international level but not in a very good way,”

“For that, I wanted to do that in a more perfect way so that I can play longer and do well for the country,” Nazmul added.

Nazmul has practiced on this variation for a long time and he has started to get benefit for this hard work. And he also wants to prove himself to the international level if he gets the opportunity.

“I have been working on that. I am in a good position now in terms of variation. By the grace of Allah, if I get the opportunity we will do well,” Nazmul concluded.

Nazmul Islam has played one Test, five ODI's and 13 T20 matches in his international career. In those matches, he took one Test wicket,  five ODI wickets, and eight T20 wickets. Nazmul Islam played his last match in international cricket back in November 2018. He is out of international cricket since then.
