All-rounder Mehedi Hasan Miraz was the standout performer of the day, claiming his 11th career five-wicket haul to help restrict Zimbabwe to 273 in their first innings. His efforts ensured Bangladesh stayed well within striking distance despite a first-innings collapse.
Speaking at the post-day press conference, Miraz laid out the team's immediate goal.

“First, we want to cross their lead. Then we’ll aim for a total around 350–400. We still have nine wickets in hand, but it’s crucial that a couple of batters take responsibility and play big innings. That way, it’ll be really tough for Zimbabwe to chase on this pitch in the fourth innings as the surface is changing quickly.”

Despite the optimism, Bangladesh’s top order showed signs of vulnerability. Shadman Islam was dismissed cheaply, throwing away his wicket to a straightforward delivery from Blessing Muzarabani. Mahmudul Hasan Joy also had a lucky escape when Zimbabwe wicketkeeper Nyasha Mayavo and slip fielder Ben Curran both failed to grab a simple chance.
The Tigers' middle order had struggled in the first innings, and their second-innings response will be crucial if they are to push for victory. All eyes will be on the batters to see if they can rise to the occasion on Day 3.
