All-rounder Miraz has expressed his commitment to taking Bangladesh cricket to the next level, emphasizing the importance of winning major trophies to inspire the next generation. While Bangladesh reached the semi-finals of the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy and finished as runners-up in multiple Asia Cup editions, they are yet to secure a major title.

Speaking about the transition, Miraz stated, “Everyone has to step aside at some point. Our senior players have taken Bangladesh to a certain level, and now it is our responsibility to take it further.”
“We have not won a trophy yet, so our goal is to win a major tournament. If we can secure a title, it will be a great achievement for our generation.”

Miraz emphasized the importance of experience and performance, saying, “We have 6-7 players who have been playing international cricket for 7-10 years. They are not new anymore. We need to strike a balance with those who have 2-3 years of experience and create a structured plan moving forward.”

Reflecting on Bangladesh’s cricketing journey, he added, “Mushfiq bhai and the seniors served the team for 7-8 years and brought it to a certain level. We have also played for many years now. Our goal should be to take Bangladesh even further.”
Bangladesh has shown the most progress in ODIs over the past decade. However, the team failed to meet expectations in the 2023 World Cup and struggled in the Champions Trophy this year. With the 2027 ODI World Cup approaching, Miraz stressed the need for long-term planning.
“A long-term plan is crucial. We need to give players consistent opportunities. If we prepare only 2-3 months before the World Cup, it will be difficult. But if we start working now, with a settled squad and proper coordination, we can achieve something special,” Miraz concluded.
