Mithun's maiden double century dazzles BCL final

BCB South Zone scored 43 for 1 wicket at stumps on Day 3 against Walton Central Zone during the final of Bangabandhu 9th Bangladesh Cricket League (BCL) at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, Dhaka on Tuesday.

Pinak Ghosh and Amite Hasan were batting on 22 and 20 runs respectively at the end of the day’s play, as South Zone still trail by 8 runs.

Central Zone resumed on 184-4, they added 254 runs to their overnight score with the help of Mohammad Mithun’s maiden double hundred in the first-class cricket and Shuvagata Hom’s 116 to finish on 438.

Mithun was unbeaten on 102 on Day 2, which he converted to 206 facing 306 deliveries with 27 boundaries and 3 sixes to play the knock.

Mithun added 283 runs for the fifth wicket with Shuvagata, who scored 116 off 219 balls which featured 12 fours.

Farhad Reza and Kamrul Islam Rabbi bagged four wickets each in the first innings for South Zone.

Earlier, South Zone scored 387 in the first innings with the century by Zakir Hossain (107).
