Former Pakistan bowler Mohammad Amir is set to make his Caribbean Premier League (CPL) debut. Amir has been signed by Barbados Tridents for the upcoming season that kicks off in St Kitts & Nevis in August 2021.

In December of last year, Amir announced his retirement from international cricket. The veteran speedster's decision raised a lot of questions in the cricket world because Amir was doing well.

However, Amir has stated that he would not play for the national side until Misbah-ul-Haq and Waqar Younis, the national team's head coach and bowling coach are in charge.

The Pakistan bowler has made 50 T20I appearances for his country, has taken 220 wickets in 190 career T20 matches and has an economy of 7.09.

According to the CPL website, another Pakistan cricketer Shoaib Malik is returning to Guyana Amazon Warriors, he helped them reach the finals in 2018 and 2019. In 17 appearances with the club, he has scored 436 runs and taken six wickets.

This year the tournament will take place in St Kitts & Nevis with all 33 matches being played at Warner Park. This follows on from the successful staging of CPL in Trinidad and Tobago in 2020.
