Indian mercurial all-rounder Hardik Pandya believes that lady luck was on his back in the 2016 Twenty20 World Cup clash against Bangladesh on their home territory.
Hardik recalls the day where the debacle of Mushfiqur Rahim and Mahmudullah cost Bangladesh to beat their archrival India in the important fixture of the 2016 T20 World Cup.
While chasing down 147 runs, Tigers needed two runs from the last three balls to win the match. Two veteran batsmen of the Bangladesh team, Mushfiqur Rahim and Mahmudullah Riyad, were in the crease at that time.

But the wicketkeeper-batsman Mushfiqur was caught at mid-wicket to end the match with a six off Hardik Pandya. And from the very next delivery, Mahmudullah made the same mistake by putting the low-full toss ball out of the boundary but got caught behind.
Recalling that match-winning moment for his team, Pandya in an interview to Cricbuzz stated that if he was in the position of Mushfiqur he wouldn’t make the mistake Mushfiqur did at that time.
The all-rounder praised that the luck was on his side on that day which is why he came out victorious.
“If I had been batting, I would have been safe with one run. I would then try to play big shots to end the match,” Hardik Pandya said.
“I thought to put the hardest delivery to stop one run. I thought the back of the length would be the hardest to check one run. But he [Mushfiqur] went out to play big shots. Later [to Mahmudullah] I went to make yorkers and became full-toss. I didn’t do anything special. Luck was beside me and it happened,” Pandya concluded.
