Bangladesh ODI skipper Tamim Iqbal said that the fund raised by the salary of the cricketers will be used for the cricketing fraternity instead of donating in the Prime Minister’s relief fund.
Cricketers have stood by the side of the distressed people since the beginning of the corona virus contagion. On March 25, the national team players formed a fund of Tk 30 lakh to help the corona-affected people. After deducting taxes, the figure was around Tk 26 lakh. The Tigers donated half of their monthly salaries for the relief fund.
It was then heard that the cricketers’ grants would be deposited in Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s relief fund. Of course, that did not happen finally. The cricketers themselves have distributed the money among the most distressed cricketers, groundsmen and to the indigent staff of BCB.

Recently a list of 370 BCB employees across the country has been compiled. The cricketers have started to hand over financial aid to them through that fund.
Tamim Iqbal coordinated the initiative to create a corona fund for cricketers. The veteran left-arm opener said that the players are now distributing their own donated money to the needy people.
He cleared the air why they have changed in the decision of not donating the raised money into the PM’s fund.
“We first talked to the board president about donating it to the PM’s fund. Therefore, information came to the board president that it would be better if we gave it to those of us who are in the cricket fraternity without giving it in the fund. We’ve been giving it to everyone since that instruction came from there,” Tamim Iqbal said.
As part of this, the family of the late Khulna cricketer Kajal has been helped; also helped the victims caused by the Cyclone Amphan from the national team funds.
“Yes, it’s going to those places. Apart from these, it has gone to many places as well. Many players have been helped. We have made a list of 370 people. We’re slowly starting to give money to all the staff, to all the groundsmen of BCB in Bangladesh, whose condition is not so good,” Tamim added.
