Bangladesh national cricket team players- Soumya Sarkar and Liton Kumar Das- have revealed that they feel more comfortable to use what sorts of bats in their games.

The 27-year old Soumya had a regular presence in the national team as top-order especially in the limited-overs formats since he started his international career against Zimbabwe in 2014.

The 25-year old Liton, on the other hand, made his international debut in 2015 against India. As of now, he kept the record of the highest ODI score as a Bangladesh batsman under his possession.

On home turf, the wicketkeeper-batsman against Zimbabwe smashed a scintillating 176 that eclipsed the erstwhile record of veteran opener Tamim Iqbal, who had 158 to his hut.

Both aggressive and stylish batsmen have opened up about their comfortable bats which they use in the match to dominate over the bowlers.

The matter of grip is the obvious thing for Soumya no matter whether it’s lightweight or heavyweight or a normal weight bat.

“I always prefer bats that feel more comfortable to me. No matter how good the bat is or how much power it has, if I don’t feel comfortable after holding the grip then I will not use that bat. So a normal bat can be preferable for me if I feel comfortable with it after holding the grip,” Soumya Sarkar said.

“And another thing is I always try to use a bat with the same weight. Shape can be altered but I don’t change the weight of the bat,” Soumya said in an interview to an English daily.

But the scenario is somewhat different for Liton, who used to play with a heavyweight bat. After taking the suggestions from former head coach Chandika Hathurusingha, in whose tenure Bangladesh enjoyed the most success in its cricket history, he started using lightweight bat to have stayed more time in batting.

“I usually used heavier bats early in my career, until 2016. Then [Chandika] Hathurusingha, former coach of Bangladesh, told me that a less heavy bat will give me more time in batting, shot speed or shot selection will be better if I use a light bat. Since then I use a less heavy bat,” Liton Kumar said.

“Another Interesting thing is, when I do not score with a bat, I then reject it immediately. Whatever the quality of the bat, I always change the bat when I don’t score runs for two-three games,” he concluded.
