Will know when to quit – Shoaib Malik

Experience Pakistani campaigner Shoaib Malik believe that he still got some cricket left and would quit the moment he turns out to be a liability on the team.
Shoaib (36), who is currently in Dhaka to take part in the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League for Comilla Victorians, is expected to leave after a couple of matches to join the Pakistani squad.
According to many observers Shoaib had lost his prime and time have arrived for him to make a grace exit from international cricket, though Shoaib refused to echo with the same sentiment.
‘’I think for me I still think the captain needs me on the hot spot in the fielding and that’s mattered most for me. The day the caption thinks of hiding me, I will quit cricket. Till now, the goal is to the play 2019 World Cup and the 50 over cricket will be over and for T20 I want to play till 2020 World Cup. Let’s see how it goes.
‘It’s just always think positive and most importantly if you enjoy your cricket, keep playing it. It’s not about you performing, it’s about you sharing your experiences and you giving confidence to youngsters and the atmosphere in the dressing room, that’s comes from our senior players who have been playing and performing. It’s very important and it’s not just performing or playing for the country, its lot depend on a senior player to groom the youngsters,’’ he said.
Shoaib added that Pakistan can do well in international cricket if they stick with the core players and it proved dividend for them in the T20 format.
‘It’s just that we need to be consistent in winning,’’ said Shoaib.
‘’I think the same cricketers they have been playing in Twenty20 format and they have performed well also. So it’s not about one or two guy, it’s about the team,’’ he said.
‘’If he is in good form that person scores almost in all the game and even the bowlers they take wickets and I must say in this particular format, fielding is very important. And our fielding has improved a lot. That’s the key of winning and be the number one team in the world,’’ he added.
