David Warner’s Sylhet Sixers will be eyeing to register their first win as they take on a highly spirited Chittagong Vikings in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) on Wednesday.

Coming off in the tournament as underdog, Vikings began their journey on a perfect note as they stunned all, defeating the defending champions Rangpur Riders by three wickets in their opening game. In contrary, Sylhet Sixers were humbled by Comilla Victorians by four wickets in the tournament opener, despite the tag of a big team.

Sylhet Sixers all-rounder Afif Hossain admitted the mistakes they had done in the tournament and vowed to rectify it in their quest of the first victory.

He said on Tuesday that they have taken the lesson from the opening game and would not like to repeat  it.

“We did not make enough score in the first match,’’ said Afif.

“We want to do well in the next match keeping the last match in mind. We have plans to move forward in that way.

Afif added that their skipper David Warner shared his experience with them in a bid to motivate the players ahead of the important clash.

“The talk we held that has been made mostly on the team. But I talked with him how can I help the team with bat and bowl and what will be my role in the team,’’ said Afif.

“He is always involving in all of the team whether it is in practice or hotel. He is cutting fun with us all. He is keeping all united that helps the team much,’’ he said adding that he is looking forward to know the technique behind his immense power.

‘’As Warner is a batsman, there are many more things of batting to learn from him. How he utilizes the batting power play and how he manages to compile big innings on top-order-actually these things are required to learn from him,’’ said Afif.

Viking pace bowler Abu Jayed said that they are confident of taking their good fortune further in the tournament despite they did not look to be extremely strong on the pen and paper.

“We all have confidence both as a player and team. Initially, it did not deem that the team is not so balanced. But it has been seemed after winning the first match the team has a good balanced. Our confidence got a big boost after winning the first match.

“We’ve two-three cricketers who could do many things single-handedly. As for example, we’ve Mushfiq bhai, who alone triumphed Bangladesh in international matches,’’ said Jayed.

‘’So, we’ve hopes on him. We’ve Ahmed Shehzad, who clattered fifty from 17 balls. It would be better if he could play his own game. Again, we’ve Sikandar Raza, who is a good batsman. Of course, we could be able to make big score if they could player better cricket,’’ he said.

“Chittagong Vikings were in bottom place in the points table of the last two editions. So, this year our expectation is to play the final,’’ he concluded.
