Rajshahi Kings skipper Mushfiqur Rahim said on Friday that he believes that they do have the potential to achieve something big in the Bangladesh Premier League despite not having some so-called big names in their squad.

While other teams have confirmed the service of players in the likes of Chris Gayle, AB de Villers, David Warner and Steven Smith, Vikings looked to be on the opposite side of the table in this regard.

According to Mushfiqur, everyone is on the same page as they are beginning the tournament from the scratch and with their strength they can give hard time to the holders.

‘’We have the potential to do good and we believe that Chittagong can deliver something extra-ordinary,’’ Mushfiqur told reporters at Dhaka on Friday.

We might not be a force to reckon with in pen and paper but we believe there are few players who have the potential to perform very well in the tournament,’’ he said.

Since it's the first match, everyone will start fresh and anew and we are aware that the starting is very essential because it helps to gain the momentum,’’ he said.
Mushfiqur said that he feels local players will be key to achieve success in BPL because though the foreign players play a big part it is the local who eventually do the trick for respective franchises.

‘’BPL is a type of format where foreigners may play a big part by their outstanding performance but the local players also need to contribute a lot,’’ said Mushfiqur.

‘’If you analyze meticulously, you can see that every team has roped in potential domestic players and we are also blessed with a good batting and bowling attack consists of pace and spin,’’ he said

‘’We are working very hard to stand as a team because we did not get much time and among our foreigners only few of them arrived today and so we have to prepare all by ourselves,’’ he said adding that he is looking forward to see how Mohammad Ashraful performs as he is confident that the former national captain still have a lot of cricket left in him.

Ashraful is eligible to play BPL after serving five years ban for his involvement in match fixing during the second edition of BPL.
‘’He underwent rigorous hard works and he had performed in other domestic leagues and tournaments and if he manages to perform well surely it will be effective for Bangladesh Cricket as well,’’ he added.
