Shakib may get grumpy but he is the best to lead the side: Russell

Dhaka Dynamites all-rounder Andre Russell believes captain Shakib Al Hasan’s passion is key in their aspiration to clinch the title which eluded them in the last season after a Chris Gayle-storm.
Galye single-handedly thwarted star-studded Dhaka in that season playing a marauding 146 not out, a best score in any T20 format’s final match, which created a such a scar that Dhaka couldn’t recover finally.
However coming to this season, Russell said they need to assist Shakib even though his passion to win the game sometimes drives him crazy and shout at the teammates. Russell is the best man to describe Shakib out there because of his continuous association with him in the various domestic T20 tournaments.
“Sakib is a very good skipper. I have played with him at KKR and Jamaica Tallawahs as well,” Russell said during Dhaka’s practice session on Friday at National Academy Ground in Mirpur.
“He plays hard and at times he may get grumpy and that’s how the captains are. We are all professionals and once we make an error in bowl or bat, we play a bad shot or something like, skipper goona react hard,” he added.
“We just have to make sure that we just make it as easy as possible. As a captain, I know he will do his best as well to lead the team.”
Russell at the time ensured that they players would try to go all guns blazing in a bid to contribute significantly for team’s cause.
“Every year players improve and young players also improve as well. We have been playing with the same set of guys for a few years and we will take nothing for granted. We gonna play our best cricket and we will put our best effort forward. We need to make sure that we will bowl well and bat well and take our catches in the field. And I wish everyone will be the best for the season.”
