Australian suspended opener David Warner said on Thursday that he is quite happy to spend some valuable time with his family during the period of suspension as it helped him to grow better as a human being.
Warner along with Steve Smith and have been handed one-year bans for their role in the ball tampering saga that unfurled during the Newlands Test, Cricket Australia confirmed on March 28) while Cameron Bancroft, has been banned for nine months as the trio were found guilty of ball tampering issue.
All three have been banned from international and state cricket, but can play club cricket while CA also confirmed that Bancroft and Smith will not be considered as captain for 12 months after the end of the ban, while Warner will not be considered as a captain in the future.
The players can, however, challenge the sanctions levied against them. In addition, all three players will be required to undertake 100 hours of voluntary service in community cricket and they decided against it.
‘’Look for me, life was good. I have been spending time at home with family. I would not be able to do that If I wasn’t sitting on the sidelines. But for me, it’s about getting the best out of me and growing as a good human being,’’ said Warner.
‘’But my most important thing was to become a father at home and a husband. Now it’s down to playing cricket again and put the Sixers at top of the table,’’ said Warner adding that he is looking forward to represent Austarlia in the coming days.
‘’It’s up to the selectors for whether they are going to pick me. At the end of the day, I can do score runs and that’s what I can do keep putting my hand and make sure I can the best person and making sure I am going to do my job for Sylhet Sixers,’’ he concluded.
